Nash has been designing sleeping bags for more than 20 years. Dedicated carp
anglers have their own special needs from a sleeping bag, far different from
say camping or mountaineering where bags are restrictive and narrow to
minimise the amount of air that needs warming up between body and bag.
Carp anglers require a spacious sleeping bag for comfort on those long
sessions and with plenty of room for a quick exit. Fishing throughout the
seasons makes insulation the key. The true 5-season sleeping bag with
enough insulation in the winter is going to cook you in the summer. I was
thinking about this problem then, in a flash, this simple answer came to me
- three layers. You sleep between the bottom layer and the second layer so
you have a second and a third layer on top of you maximising insulation.
When the 5-season insulation isn’t required and you are too hot, simply
unzip and take the top layer off. Nash have lined the top layer with fleece
so this can double up as a blanket. Nash say simply, it’s taken the carp
fishing world all this time to come up with this idea. Pukka, eh?
Nash have also looked at the insulation levels.
Traditional bags split the insulation bottom and top, but why do you want
50% of your insulation underneath you, especially if you are using a Nash
Indulgence bedchair with its super luxury insulated mattress? With the
Frostbite All Season you have 33% insulation in each layer creating two
thirds of the insulation on top where you need it.
Nash also asked themselves why sleeping bags are the same width bottom and
top? The Frostbite All Season has wider, fuller top layers enhancing comfort
for the bigger guy. These innovative features are now combined with the
others I have learnt over the years. Pockets head and feet to slip over your
bedchair, ensure the Frostbite is properly secured, a zip pocket to contain
a full size luxury pillow that prevents you knocking it off in the night, a
waterproof outer skin to prevent condensation chilling you and a proper
crash zip for a smooth and easy exit when a buzzer screams. Job done.
